Dr. Magdi Rashad

Dr. Magdi Rashad is an expert in District Cooling. He is a Chartered Mechanical Engineer with extensive experience in energy efficiency and HVAC systems for buildings and holds a PhD in renewable energy from Brunel University in London. Throughout his career, Dr. Magdi has played a key role in the design and construction of HVAC systems for numerous landmark projects in Kuwait and United Kingdom. Over the past two decades, he has concentrated on District Cooling, particularly in the Middle East, where large-scale cooling solutions are critical for sustainable urban development. Since 2018, Dr. Magdi has led a team advising on major District Cooling projects that include economic zones, logistics parks, new cities, and military bases. His expertise spans feasibility studies, system design, and operational optimisation, helping governments, master developers and institutional investors design, implement and acquire efficient and cost-effective District Cooling systems. Dr Magdi is passionate about passive energy designed buildings. He was personally involved in the design of a residential dwelling with many passive energy features. The cooling demand is an average of 50 m2 per ton.
